Couples Counselling
A Space to Work on Your Relationship
You might keep having the same argument, feel more like roommates than partners, or struggle to talk without things escalating. Sometimes there’s a specific hurt you can’t move past. Other times, the distance has grown slowly, and you’re unsure how to find your way back to each other.
Couples counselling offers a place to slow things down and understand what’s happening between you. I work with couples to explore difficult patterns, communicate more clearly, and make thoughtful decisions about their relationship.
When Your Relationship Feels Difficult
Every relationship has challenges. It may be time to seek support when you notice:
Arguments that repeat without resolution
Feeling unheard, misunderstood, or dismissed
Emotional distance or a loss of connection
Difficulty rebuilding trust after a hurt or betrayal
Disagreements about parenting, money, or responsibilities
Changes in intimacy or affection
Stress from major life changes
Uncertainty about staying together or separating
You don’t need to wait until your relationship reaches a breaking point to ask for help.
How Couples Counselling Can Help
When you’re caught in a difficult pattern, even a small conversation can turn into a familiar argument. In our work together, we look at what happens in those moments: what each person is feeling, how you respond, and where communication breaks down.
Together, we can work on:
Expressing needs and concerns more clearly
Listening without immediately becoming defensive
Recognizing patterns that keep conflict going
Managing strong emotions during disagreements
Setting boundaries and understanding each other’s expectations
Rebuilding trust and emotional connection
Navigating parenting challenges and shared decisions
Finding clarity about the next steps in your relationship
There is room to talk honestly about what each of you wants, including when you’re unsure what the future holds.
Support Through High-Conflict Divorce
Divorce is hard. A high-conflict divorce can take over your whole life. Every message from your ex feels like a trap. You worry about your kids and what they're hearing. You might feel like you can't say anything right, and like the process is working against you.
I work with parents, especially fathers, who are going through contentious divorce and co-parenting disputes. My job is to give you a steady place to bring the anger, fear, and exhaustion, so they don't end up in a text message you regret or a hard moment in front of your children.
What we work on together
We look at what's driving the conflict and how to keep it from running your life. That might mean working through a tough OurFamilyWizard or TalkingParents message before you send it, getting ready for mediation or a difficult exchange, or making sense of reactions that feel bigger than the moment. A lot of our time goes to your relationship with your kids: how to stay close and present, how to talk with them honestly about what's changing, and how to keep them out of the middle.
The goal is not just getting through the divorce. It's coming out the other side as the parent you want to be.
Take the Next Step
Whether you’re hoping to reconnect with your partner, considering separation, or navigating a difficult divorce, you don’t have to work through it alone.
